Recently, my favorite yoga studio started offering “sound baths” after Friday night yoga class. Naturally, I chortled at the idea. A “sound bath”? Really? Like, what, we get naked at hum? Ooohhhmmmmm.
Ohhhh, but the joke was on me. When the “sound bath guy” started banging the gong, shaking the rainstick, tinkering the bells, something very powerful happened: I relaxed in a deep and profound way. At one point I was dreaming. At another, I was floating somewhere, neither here nor there. And when I landed, woke, came back to consciousness, I felt inexplicable peace – soul satisfying deep rest.
